Parents
Through others we become ourselves”. Lev Vygotsky
As parents we hold the immense privilege and weighty responsibility of part-shaping our children’s development. It is in the context of attachment relationships and family of origin in some form that we as parents have ourselves developed, and in which our children’s development is cultivated. Many factors contribute to the developmental trajectory of children throughout childhood and into and through adolescence. Informed, conscious and intentional parenting is the seedbed for children’s growth and for insight into and understanding of them.
Psycho-education and parent support
It is through knowledge that we gain understanding, so being properly and accurately informed about the meaning of diagnoses or conceptualisations of what your child or adolescent is experiencing is the key to supporting him/her. Psycho-education also empowers you as a parent.
